Latest Updates from Our Project:

Announcing the 4 settings funded yesterday
almost 5 years ago – Fri, Jul 19, 2019 at 08:35:12 PM

Happy Friday, all!  And thank you for all the congratulatory comments and messages.

We had a really great end to a really great campaign, and I'm looking forward to getting this book (and these cards) in your hands as soon as possible.  So while we wait for Kickstarter to process funds, we're still moving forward on production, including sending contracts out to all our microsetting authors.

As I mentioned last night, we had three settings funded through Invocation of Creation add-ons.  And I am happy to say that I can now announce which settings were chosen.

  • Dark Alleys of the Soul, by Steve Diamond.  Keep your fedora on tight and your spells locked-and-loaded in this hard-boiled noir detective fantasy.
  • The Forge, by Quincy J. Allen.  Deep in the wilds of the G'Dann forest, outcast Half-Elves build a school of battle magic, training with swords and spells to fight monsters, bandits, and even invading armies
  • Gate Crashers, by David Paul Guzmán. When the Gates appear, Corporations jump in to plunder what lies beyond, using Delvers supernaturally enhanced with monstrous body parts.

This last selection also means that I am relieved of a thorny problem.  We ended the campaign with enough money to fund one of the two settings from Stretch Goal 5.  But since Gate Crashers was one of those two, there is no conflict.  The stretch goal funds will be used to produce:

  • Clash of the Pastrium: The Gingerbread Joust, by Mari Murdock. Magical pastry chefs pit their most vicious vivified baked goods against one another in an underground cookie fight club. Let the Gingerbread Joust begin!

Hooray!  So, each of these four will be included in the Micronomicon, along with the usual complement of illustrations from our incredible art team.  Hooray!

And there might be even more.  We're working right now on putting together a BackerKit, which will allow us to continue to raise funds through preorders and add-ons while the book is being put together.  And although nothing is official yet, we are hoping that this might allow us to include more of our stretch goal settings.  More on that later.

But for now, let me just say this campaign has been super fun, and you all are great, and this book is going to be incredible!  Thanks for everything, and have a great weekend!  (Talk do you again in a week or so.  Cheers!)

Thank you all so much!

That was incredible!  What a way to finish!

We had not one, not two, but THREE Incarnation of Creation add-ons pledged during the final few hours.  Amazing!  So that's three more microsettings that will be going in.  (We will announce those chosen settings are soon.)

Since each of those Incarnations bumps all the other stretch goals up another $500, this means we finished just over halfway to Stretch Goal 5.  And because I am just so amped up right now, I am going to give you all two of the three things that come with that stretch.  We're going to do the Reed Hill spot art.  And we will also do one of the two microsettings.  (Not sure which yet.)

So, congratulations, everyone!  Four more microsettings are going in this book (which makes at least 16 total). Excellent!

And THANK YOU, everyone.  You have made this book a reality.  More, by helping us hit a bunch of stretch goals, you have made the Micronomicon extra awesome.  Can't wait to deliver it to you!

PS - I'll probably have an update tomorrow, to talk about things like BackerKit.  And then after that, you'll start hearing from me a lot less frequently.  No more than every week or two.  Thanks again!  And good night!

Man, what a blast this has been!

1. We have about 11 hours left in the campaign.  If we hit 400 backers before it ends, I will add another Backers Choice microsetting to the book.  (We'll have a poll that runs for a week or so after the campaign closes.)   Right now we're 20 backers away, and yesterday we added almost 20 backers.  So this is very possible.

2. We are quite a ways away from the $6k stretch goal, but there's a lot of time in the day yet, and also some big pledge tiers open-- including custom art pledges available for both Nicolas Giacondino and Reed Hill.  So if you want to see yourself (or your character) illustrated in this book, this might be your chance.

3. Thank you all for everything!  See you on the other side.  (:

Invocation of Creation + Stretches 9-11
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Jul 17, 2019 at 06:16:49 PM

Good morning Micronomicompadres, and welcome to the last 36 hours of the campaign!

Last night on the  Gallant Knight Games Discord server, we had a Q&A session, which was super fun.  Got some positive feedback and heard from some people who were really excited about the campaign, which is always nice to hear.

But honestly I think I am more psyched to see this thing come together than anyone else, and I'm especially looking forward to seeing what everyone does with their microsettings.  And thinking about that got me so jazzed that I decided to share the details on all our remaining microsetting stretch goals.

I don't know if we'll hit these, but we're definitely trying to sprint to the finish, and anything can happen here on the home stretch.  And, man, I'd like to put every one of these in the book.  So fingers crossed!

Stretch Goal 9 ($10,000)

Goblin Star by Gama Martinez

Science tells us traveling faster than the speed of light is impossible, and it is, as far as science is concerned. Long ago, the elves, and dwarves, and so many others realized travelling to other worlds required magic. In time, the old races left the earth, leaving humanity with nothing more than stories about them. Now, humans have rediscovered their own magic and have joined the rest of the races among the stars and have become embroiled in an interstellar war against goblins, rebel dwarves, and even dragons.

The Forge by Quincy J. Allen

Enslaved by Humans and hunted by pure-blood Fey, half-breeds fight for survival in the dangerous wildlands between warring civilizations. Far from the warring races, two Half-Elf battlemages created the Arcology, a fortress-academy where half-breeds can learn the ways of war. Each full moon, at a secret location, new students gather to be ushered through the deadly G'Dann forest surrounding the school. Students train inside the Arcology, but their lessons are put to the test in the G’Dann, fighting monsters, bandits, and even invading armies. Not all survive the Arcology, but those who do call it The Forge.

Stretch Goal 10 ($11,000)

Food of the Gods by Brian Fitzpatrick

Cratus is a world of constant upheaval, where new gods are constantly on the rise, challenging the status quo, and perishing in deific battles with mortals often crushed in-between. Their corpses can be harvested by brave heroes who can harness their raw power even after death, granting them the ability to better survive in such a world. Carnomancy grants the consumer a fraction of power to harness as they will. Will you take the time to refine? Or will you consume it raw? What will you do with your pound of godflesh? What will it cost you?

Loam, Life, and Loom: Glimmer Weavers by Natasha Ence

Without the mulchberry leaves, the Glimmer moths would die. And without the Glimmer moths, there would be no cocoons to spin into Glimmer twine or threads to weave into Glimmer cloth. And without the Glimmer twine or cloth, the Masters would come to kill rather than collect... for the Glimmer is magic, and magic is everything to the Masters. For in the hands of a Master, Glimmer can alter luck and predict the fates, bind and break, conceal and reveal...and in a war with the unseen and unknowable, that is everything. Glimmer is everything. Glimmer is everything to us.

Stretch Goal 11 ($12,000)

Knowledge Arcana, Inc. by Mario Cordova

“News Flash! Last night city workers discovered a previously unknown dungeon system possibly dating back centuries. Arkenstone City officials have contracted well know dungeoneering firm KnA Inc. to survey, and catalog the dungeon.” This is Channel 6 News. KnA Inc. is a gritty urban fantasy adventure with a 80s/90s cold war vibe, You are part of a professional dungeoneering and artifact assessment firm, tasked with investigating claims of newly uncovered dungeons, lore, or artifacts in conflict zones or politically sensitive areas, the firm also on occasions assists in tracking down lost or missing artifacts for interested parties.

Snake-Oil by Martin Greening

Snake-Oil is a microsetting of dark fantasy with points of light, where salesmen brave the dangers between civilization to hawk their alchemy and artifices. The lands between towns and cities are ravaged by fierce natives, haunted forests, unnatural storms, and creatures of legend. The setting name derives from the blood of the Cuatl, a common ingredient in alchemical formulae. Microsetting to include new possibilities for the alchemist and artificer paths as well as ideas for the dangers the salesmen face in their travels.

INVOCATION OF CREATION Add-on

Now that you've seen all the microsettings that we could have in this book, I want to call your attention to a very special add-on we are offering as part of this campaign, called the Invocation of Creation.

If your favorite setting looks like it might not make it into the book, the Invocation of Creation gives you the chance to step in and save it.  With this add-on, you can choose any microsetting you want and get it produced and included.  You can even help design and select the art.

To conjure the Invocation of Creation, simply add $500 to your pledge and send us a message telling us which microsetting you want.  (And if you want to see the BIG list before you make your pick, just let us know.) All other stretch goals will get bumped back $500 to make room for the one you just funded.  And everyone will dance and sing and rejoice.

Muchas gracias!

I don't know if we'll have another update before the campaign ends, so I just wanted to take the opportunity to tell you all how much I have appreciated your enthusiastic support.  It's been a real thrill ride, and your energy and excitement have really helped me keep going.  Thanks for pledging, for sharing on social media, for telling your friends, for asking questions and leaving comments, and everything else.

You all are the best!  Thank you!

Stretch 4 unlocked + Stretch 8 details
almost 5 years ago – Mon, Jul 15, 2019 at 05:53:21 PM

With $5,000 in the rear-view mirror, Stretch Goal 4 is officially unlocked.  Excellent!  We get more Rick Hershey art, plus microsettings that let us be Dream Defenders and Arctic Adventurers.  Nice job, all!

We still have more than three days left in this campaign, and even more people who've chosen to follow than have chosen to pledge.  So who knows where this crazy train is going to stop?

To help people who are on the fence, I've added more art to the main campaign page, and added teasers for stretch goals going up to $12,000.  (Can we do that in three days?  Uh...  That's a definite maybe!

I'll tell you a bit more about those tomorrow, but for now, I want to give a bit more detail about Stretch Goal 8, which we will unlock when we hit $9,000.  We will of course add more art, and also two new microsettings, viz.:

The Psi-Mage War

by Shawn Carman

No one knows where psionic power comes from. While it remains a mystery, the truth is that it's caused by a virus that grants power to those susceptible to it. This virus is largely benevolent, but there are others out there.

A new psionic virus has appeared, infecting magic and those who use it, transforming them into a hive mind determined to rule the kingdom, then perhaps the world. All must belong. Only those with psionic power are immune.

The ultimate war between magic and psionics is about to begin.

Shawn loves games, all kinds of games, but especially Tiny D6 games! He's worked extensively on Legend of the Five Rings, Thunderscape, recently Kickstarted Infinity's Edge, and just completed a Kickstarter campaign for the Tiny Supers expansion Tiny Legacies.

Holiday Horrors

by Ezekiel James Boston

The Easter Bunny is tired of your chocolate egg jokes and is going to arcane egg-bomb your house, and don’t even get me started on St. Patrick.

The holidays have come alive but carry all the hate cast their way through the years. People of faith are the only ones who can protect humanity from these twisted abominations.

So, gather your faithful friends, make alliances with those of other faiths, and for the love of Bob—somebody get someone to handle the Flying Spaghetti monster!

I don't know which I'm more excited about: being a badass Psi warrior and saving the world from an alien mind-virus, or finally defeating Arbor Day.  Hopefully, we can do both!

Thanks, everyone!  (And keep spreading the word!)
